The switch does SNMP which means you can monitor individual ports,
right?
So why the need for router community strings?

Our box can do that if we et the snmp read strings from all the players
routers connected to that switch.

I might suggest a separate snmp sting for this monitor setup.

Sounds good. But just make sure the server is gathering the amount of
traffic
crossing the switch at the IX, and not the amount of traffic MTN is
handling
to/from the IX.
